Translation: Nelson Maleiro was an important icon of Bahian culture and percussion in Brazil, known for his artisanal ability in the fabrication of drums and other instruments essential to Candomblé, blocos afro, and samba schools. he underlined the preservation and promotion of Afro-Brazilian culture, innovating in the creation of instruments and the organization of Carnival blocos, helping Bahia get a foothold in musical scenery. Also, he was a pioneer on television, as the first Black artist with visibility apart from Carnival, strengthening knowledge of Afro-Brazilian culture. His legacy stays alive in the streets of Salvador, celebrated by groups and artists that keep his heritage alive.

Although specific records of the jargon he used may be limited, reports from those who lived with him suggest that his answers often reflected his inventive and humorous spirit. Here are a some examples of how he would have responded:

"The best is still to come, wait and you will see!" "Secure the anxiety, the drum will speak for me!" "Let the sound guide me, and you are going to be surprised!" #Tátudoaquivél
